Fostering provides temporary care for special needs pets and pets that are not quite ready to find their forever homes. Animals that require foster care include caged cats that prefer to be only pets, pets requiring medication, pregnant pets, and kittens or puppies.

With fostering, the Arnprior & District Humane Society covers the cost of caring for the pet. This includes food, litter, medication, and veterinary bills. When you become a foster parent, you become an extension of the Arnprior & District Humane Society and help provide one-on-one care that we are sometimes unable to provide. To become a foster you need to meet the following requirements:
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • have a separate room to isolate the foster animal
  • have access to reliable transportation
  • if you have pets, they must be up to date on their vaccines and be spayed/neutered

To become a foster, complete the following application form.
